Gut Integrity: The Glutamine and Gut Health Connection

Gut Integrity Product Image

With the launch of our new product, Gut Integrity, we thought it would be a good time to revisit the topic of glutamine. Anyone who has had any gut issues knows how miserable it can be. So why is it so important to include glutamine in gut health? And what can you do to improve your gut health as well as your overall health?

We’ve always been passionate about how crucial a healthy gut is to bodily health. And a healthy gut is strongly tied to what we put in our body. Many may not realize that the foods we eat can work against us rather than help us.

Read on and see what a well-balanced diet and glutamine can do for gut health.

What Does Glutamine Do For Your Body?

We briefly spoke about how glutamine is often sought after by anyone who’s looking to get gains at the gym. That’s because glutamine is an essential amino acid that’s the building block of protein. It helps bind muscle fibers together and strengthen them so you don’t have to worry about as much wear and tear. And also glutamine is amazing at preventing the muscles from breaking down so bodybuilders and athletes don’t have to worry about losing mass.

But what does preventing muscle breakdown have to do with gut health?

When it comes to the gut, the intestinal lining is made of tightly knit fibers that help with the absorption of nutrients. It also keeps your gut protected from the bad kind of bacteria. When these fibers weaken - whether through overconsumption of sugar, poor diet, or alcohol - these fibers can break down which leads to a variety of gut issues. The most common that most people think of are leaky gut syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Glutamine works to heal these fibers within your gut to control your immunity response as well as aid in overall digestive health.

Glutamine and the Elimination Diet

Of course, introducing glutamine to your daily life isn’t a magic wand. It won’t cure your gut ailments by itself without a change to your diet.

We understand that a lifestyle change can be tricky. Especially in today’s fast-paced world. But to truly heal your gut, we strongly recommend an elimination diet. The truth is, some of us could have food allergies that we don’t even know about! While we may not break into hives or have a severe anaphylaxis reaction to foods, it doesn’t mean our diet isn’t harming us.

The most common food allergies today are related to nuts, wheat, dairy, and soy. Most of us consume these products regularly. At least one ingredient out of that list is found in most of the foods we consume at any given time. Especially when it comes to processed foods and snacks.

Even if we don’t have a severe reaction, we may have an intolerance to them. But we might not think anything of it because the symptoms are so mild. And because of this, we won’t think of our diet as harming us until we experience more severe, uncomfortable symptoms.

But that doesn’t have to be you. You don’t have to live with uncomfortable symptoms of poor gut health anymore.

Our Glutamine-based Formula

Through our 7-Day or 21-Day Clean Wellness Program, we encourage a temporary elimination diet so that when you slowly introduce food back into your diet, you’ll have a better idea of what is good for you and what isn’t. It’s a temporary break to allow your gut to heal from foods that may have been causing inflammation and other symptoms. When your gut heals, it can finally work efficiently to make you feel good all around!

In combination with our wellness programs, Gut Integrity is sure to give your body everything that it needs to get you back to a healthy balance.
