Our hormonal systems are complex. These can include cortisol (stress hormone), sex hormones, insulin, thyroid, pituitary hormones, and more. We want our hormones to be in good Communication to make sure our hormones stay regulated for healthy appetites, stress levels, menstruation cycles, fertility, and low levels of inflammation.
Making connections
When talking about the Communication system, we’re referring to all the signaling interactions that occur within and between cells thanks to hormones, neurotransmitters (the chemicals nerve cells use to communicate with one another), and immune system messengers called “cytokines.” The different hormone systems are connected to one another and operate hierarchically with the demand for cortisol, the stress hormone, taking preference over the ability to maintain adequate levels of sex hormones.
Cells are constantly in contact with their environment, sending and receiving signals with their neighbors and, in some cases, with other cells throughout the body. The Communication system is broad and includes several types of signals used to communicate in the body, including hormones, neurotransmitters, immune-modulating molecules such as cytokines, paracrine factors, and other signaling molecules. How the body is sending, receiving, or processing these messages can have significant repercussions on function.
Optimal functioning in the Communication system involves cells and organs sending, receiving, and responding appropriately to signals from other cells. Problems relating to the processing of these messages can have a severe effect – causing depression, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, abnormal menstrual periods, chronic fatigue, hair loss, cold intolerance, weight gain, and many other conditions. Neurotransmitter imbalances have been tied to several neurological and psychiatric diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and depression.
Clear communication
To ensure that the body’s Communication system works optimally, we want good nutrition to avoid vitamin and mineral deficiencies. For example, fats are structural components of some essential substances in the body, including prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that regulate many of the body’s functions. You need fats because they regulate the production of sex hormones. So overall, ensuring adequate healthy fat intake will help support hormone health.
Another example would be looking at blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels skyrocket due to a diet in processed carbohydrates and sugars and then plummet, the body will send out insulin and cortisol in response. If these drastic increases and decreases happen too frequently, we’ll see negative impacts on insulin sensitivity, hormone stability overall, menstrual cycles, anxiety, gut health, and more. So working on keeping blood sugar levels stable is essential to support the communication network within the body.
Our signature cleanse program
Our 21-Day Clean Program is the ultimate way to support our bodies’ communication networks. It helps fuel the body with vitamins and minerals, supports maintaining blood sugar levels, and adds crucial nutrition and lifestyle shifts to keep hormonal peace. The body’s immune system can also function more optimally by crowding out inflammatory foods and bringing in more nutrient-dense, nutrient-rich foods that provide the body with amino acids, fatty acids, and antioxidants.
Staying balanced
Our Balance supplement is a high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids sourced from Peruvian cold-water fish. Balance supports healthy musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, nervous system, and immune function. This natural Omega-3 supplement can boost muscle performance and recovery. Omega-3 fatty acids play a vital role during brain development, partly through their regulation of the serotonin system. Reduced intake of EPA and DHA during neurodevelopment results in decreased serotonin synthesis, storage, release, and receptor function (1). Regular use of omega-3 fatty acids also leads to healthy, balanced cholesterol levels. EPA-DHA is essential for balancing hormones and moods.
The sunshine hormone
Vitamin D is a hormone the kidneys produce that controls blood calcium concentration and impacts the immune system. Researchers have found that vitamin D helps regulate adrenaline, noradrenaline (also called norepinephrine), and dopamine production in the brain, as well as helping to prevent serotonin depletion. For this reason, low vitamin D levels increase an individual’s risk of depression significantly (2).
Shine is a vitamin D and vitamin K2 supplement. Together these form a synergistic relationship that helps assimilation of both of these crucial vitamins. At 2,500 IU, our vitamin D3 supplements provide your daily source of vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. D3 supplements help maintain healthy teeth, brain, and nervous system and strengthen our immune defenses.
That’s the (green) tea
Matcha is a source of tryptophan, which helps the body make serotonin and melatonin, two hormones necessary for sound sleep and healthy sleep. It also can reduce cortisol, the stress hormone. With L-theanine, Matcha stimulates the production of “calming” neurotransmitters that enhance concentration and mood. It also promotes sleep by reducing excitatory neurotransmitters that contribute to stress and anxiety.
Our organic matcha green tea is 100% 1st harvest from Shizuoka Prefecture and Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. It has been grown in the shade for three weeks before harvesting, which boosts chlorophyll levels, antioxidant levels, and provides a beautiful jewel green color. It’s a great addition to our morning smoothie or can be swapped in place of a cup of coffee.
Elimination is vital
Magnesium regulates neurotransmitters, which send signals throughout the nervous system and brain. It also regulates the hormone melatonin, which guides sleep-wake cycles in your body (3). Aside from its many health benefits, pure magnesium powder may help improve the overall functioning of enzymes found within the body. Eliminate is an easily absorbed source of magnesium, which can provide heightened relaxation, relief from muscle pain and cramping, healthy bowel movements, and more.
