We’ve taken the classic flavor combination to create this good-for-you alternative chocolate mint smoothie, perfect for cleansing. You’ll have a hard time believing it’s a healthy breakfast.

The Power of Cacao

Ancient Greeks considered cacao a drink worthy of the gods, which is where its name originates. The cocoa tree – Theobroma Cacao – comes from the Greek words "theo", meaning god, and "broma", meaning drink. Chocolate is usually categorized as a treat, but as ancient Greeks knew, cacao (the raw, unsweetened version) is also a true superfood. Cacao powder and nibs contain more than 300 phytonutrients. Raw cacao contains more than twenty times the antioxidant content of blueberries, one of the densest plant sources available. Adding dairy to chocolate (the process of making candies and chocolate bars) has the ability to block the absorption of the phytonutrients in cacao – one more reason to try this dairy-free version!

Chocolate Mint Smoothie

Ingredients:

1.5 cups almond milk
1/4 cup fresh mint
2 scoops Chocolate Daily Shake or one Cleanse Shake packet
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
2 tablespoons raw cacao nibs
1-3 dates (depending on how sweet you like it)
1/2 avocado
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Cinnamon to taste
Pinch of salt
Ice

Prepare ingredients. Remove and discard stems from the mint. Cut avocado in half and remove skin and pit.

Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend on high until creamy and smooth. Serve immediately or store covered in the refrigerator.
